HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface), also called high-definition multimedia interface, is a new type of interface with the rise of digital TV, high-definition TV and flat-panel TV.
In April 2002, seven companies including Hitachi, Panasonic, Philips, Sony, Thomson, Toshiba and Silicon Image jointly formed the HDMI organization. HDMI can transmit uncompressed high-definition video and multi-channel audio data with high quality, with a maximum data transmission speed of 5Gbps.
